Our Introduction

iSmart Multicultural Youth Association is a registered non-profit organization in BC founded in 2017, aimed at providing engaging community and charity activities for teenagers to develop teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills. Being in a multicultural environment, iSmart works towards spreading multiculturalism and supporting diverse groups of people in the local and global community, while motivating youth to improve their personal strengths. To date, our organization includes 100+ members and has raised over $101,000 for the Canada Cancer Society, the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, Canuck Place Children's Hospice, the Red Cross, the West Vancouver Youth Band, and more. For the past 6 years, iSmart has organized numerous fundraising events in the community, such as the Annual North Shore Spring Festival Gala, the 2020 “We Are Connected” Public Speaking Competition, or the 2018 Fall for Love Charity Show.

Our Mission

At iSmart, we aim to foster an inclusive and equitable environment that embraces diversity. Through education and courage, we are committed to cultivating a pluralistic environment as we work together to remove barriers so that every person feels welcomed, understood and valued. We provide and organize engaging and motivating community and charity activities for teenagers to improve their teamwork, organization, and leadership skills. We foster youth philanthropy while spreading multiculturalism to a broader and more diverse group of audience, combining Eastern and Western cultures. In the future, iSmart will continue to engage youth in a variety of activities and events to support their personal growth, while contributing to the community as much as they can.

Recent News

iSmart Multicultural Youth Association has recently launched the "Global Culture Exchange Program," aimed at connecting youth from diverse backgrounds through virtual and in-person exchanges. This initiative seeks to deepen understanding and appreciation of global cultures, foster empathy, and build international friendships. Participants engage in workshops, collaborative projects, and cultural sharing sessions, enriching their global perspective and enhancing interpersonal skills.

Justice, equity, diversity and inclusion are crucial values to reflect upon in order to realize the diverse identities in the unique world. It is important to ensure each individual feels accepted and comfortable with their cultural identity no matter the circumstances and where they are, especially immigrants. Zong from the University of Saskatchewan observes that “about 34% of those immigrants experienced difficulties in adapting to Western culture.” Not only do we want to provide immigrants with a sense of belonging by establishing a multicultural community and bridging cultural gaps, we also want every Canadian citizen to feel safe, welcomed and positively supported in the community.
