Our Team at iSmart Multicultural Youth Association is a dynamic and passionate group of individuals dedicated to empowering youth and promoting cultural diversity. Comprising experienced educators, enthusiastic volunteers, and visionary leaders, our team works tirelessly to create engaging programs and events that foster leadership, teamwork, and cross-cultural understanding. Each member brings unique skills and perspectives, united by a common goal to make a positive impact in the lives of young people and build a more inclusive community. Together, we are committed to inspiring the next generation of changemakers, celebrating diversity, and facilitating meaningful connections across cultures.

Brent Lu
President
A grade 11 student at St. George’s School. His hobbies include basketball, music
and teaching. Brent has been passionate about teaching since the age of 12 and wants to
become an educator in the near future. Brent has since dedicated himself to helping his
community and the people around him at any opportunity he gets. The IMYA foundation has
helped Brent to begin to fulfill his goal to create an impact on the next generation and the
people around him. Brent strives for change in the community and is dedicated to help the
IMYA foundation to reach its goals and create a welcoming environment.
Cayla Gao
President
A grade 11 student at Stratford Hall, Cayla is truly honored to serve as the
president of the iSmart Youth Leadership Team in 2024. She is proud to witness the
progress the team has made in the past and looks forward to the exciting and inspirational
journey ahead. She firmly believes that the team is capable of making a positive and long
lasting impact on the community and beyond. During leisure time, Cayla enjoys watching
movies and playing piano.
William Lu

William is a grade 11 student at St. George’s School who is always passionate
about bringing unique experiences to his community. He is motivated to inspire connectivity
and energy for those around him, sharing his ideas to collectively achieve meaningful
differences. Having worked with the youth leadership team for over three years, he is
honoured to dedicate his thoughts and passion with this unique and vibrant group. In his
spare time, William enjoys playing drums, competing in basketball, working out in a lonely
gym, or exploring the city with friends.

Hey everyone! My name is Leon Hong and I’m a junior at Point Grey Secondary,
I joined ISMART since grade 9. I have always tried to contribute to my community. Interact
offered me a great opportunity to reach my goals. I would like to improve my leadership skills
and always keep socializing with more people. As the vice president, my goal is to do my
best to help run the club and organize events! Outside the club, my hobbies are distance
running, basketball, and games.
Eliza Qiu

Eliza is a Gr.11 student at Collingwood who has worked with iSMART since Gr.9.
Having been with iSMART for her third year, Eliza is grateful for the valuable experiences
working with peers who share the same passions and honoured to be elected for her
position. As the Director of the West Vancouver iSMART branch, Eliza’s goal is to broaden
the iSMART community and introduce more members from West Vancouver. In her free
time, Eliza enjoys drawing, learning guitar, and going out with friends.

Hello! My name is Jia Hong Sun, and I have the privilege of serving as the Vice President for the iSmart Multicultural Youth Association. At the young age of 15, I am currently a student at Collingwood School in West Vancouver, B.C. My passion is to create a meaningful impact within my community. To this end, I plan to leverage my extensive experience—over four years in peer-tutoring in mathematics—to organize and lead the mathematics section of our Spring Camp. When I'm not engaged in academic or leadership activities, I enjoy immersing myself in Mandopop, either by listening to or karaoke singing, playing chess, and spending quality time with friends. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to further grow iSmart and amplify our positive contribution to the community.

Levana Qin, a junior at Lord Byng Secondary School, is delighted to take on the
role of secretary for iSmart this year. Driven by a passion for creating positive change and
forming new friendships, Levana is dedicated to making meaningful contributions within the
iSmart community. Beyond her commitments to iSmart, she is engaged in Model UN and
enjoys exploring art galleries in her free time.

A Grade 11 student at Dr. Charles Best, Cindy Zhao is a passionate individual dedicated to
community service. Serving as the Vice Secretary of ISmart, Cindy feels proud to be a part
of the changemakers of her generation. Her involvement in the organisation has not only
fostered personal growth but also equipped her with valuable skills for a promising future.
Outside of ISmart, Cindy enjoys golfing with friends, exploring bookstores, and trying new
activities.

A 10th Grader at Crofton House School, Ivy Lin is delighted to serve as the Director
of Treasure for ISMART 2024. Throughout her multitude of experiences, she has formed
new relationships, cultivated a honed ability to approach subjects methodically, and gained
invaluable insights from seasoned experts. As such, Ivy is ecstatic to continue her journey of
growth and development in the financial scheme as a leader of the multicultural youth
association. Outside of ISMART, Ivy can be found rowing with the Thunder crew, listening to
all sorts of music, and trying a variety of new cooking recipes. As a part of the ISMART
leadership group 2024, Ivy eagerly anticipates witnessing the immense aptitude and
creativity that she knows all members will bring to this year’s iteration.

Hi, my name is Aiden Han and I am in the eleventh grade attending Collingwood
School. When I'm not in school, you'll often find me engrossed in the world of speech and
Debate. Over the years, I've been fortunate enough to secure several awards and triumphs
in various tournaments. On top of this, I love giving back to my community. Through my
nonprofit, I've had the privilege of mentoring and guiding numerous students, fostering not
just their debating skills, but also their confidence and critical thinking abilities. It's been a
journey filled with joy, growth, and the satisfaction of knowing that I'm making a positive
impact on the next generation. Because of this foundation, I am excited to continue my
journey through Ismart and I can’t wait to work with you all.

Meet Candice Hua, a grade 11 student from University Hill, who is beyond
thankful to have taken her role as a dynamic social media leader at iSmart. She takes
immense pride in the impactful progress and transformation that has been made so far
through iSmart, and is ready to explore more with bonds of friendships she has been able to
make with others. Her role as a social media leader has been instrumental in her personal
and professional growth as well as providing her with cherished memories. Beyond her role,
she passionately engages in acting, hosting, dancing and singing, showcasing her diverse
talents in the performing arts.

Shawn, a Grade 11 student at Prince of Wales Secondary School, is
honored to join the Imsart leadership team. He's proud and committed to dedicating himself
to this incredible opportunity. Being part of Imsart has been transformative for Shawn,
helping him grow as both a person and a leader. Outside of Imsart, he enjoys painting,
leisurely walks, and attending musical performances.

badminton and spending time with family and friends.
Rita Fu

A grade 11 student at Century High School. Rita is honored to be a leader of Ismart
and she enjoys participating in Ismart's activities. During the time when she joined Ismart,
Rita will be worried about the task, but she usually will be proud of the results of her hard
work and ability improvement. She cooperated with her partners, and she also gained some
friendship. Being a member of Ismart given her unforgettable experiences, and these
experiences helped her grow into an independent person and a reliable leader. Rita also
likes to keep company with nature, she usually go hiking with her friends and become a
volunteer in an animal base.

Andrew is currently a student at Lord Byng Secondary and is honoured to be
designated as iSmart’s Director of Tech Support. This role not only sparked Andrew's
passion for technology but also served a defining step in his personal and academic
development. Beyond his interest in tech, Andrew is proud to be able to help others fulfill
their needs, gaining valuable experience from working together with peers. Andrew is proud
to contribute to the community's success through leadership and diligence.
Kairui Bi
Director of Tech Support
a grade 11 student from Semiahmoo Secondary, is honoured to serve as
the Director of Tech Support in the ISMART youth program. While the experience provides
Alex with a great opportunity to get in touch with others, he builds exceptional bonds with
people and is always dedicated not only to this but also to the public. Alex’s notable
contribution and robust spirit have developed his wise personality and emphasized his
responsibility as a role of Director. On the other side, Alex is also fond of playing table tennis
with friends, interacting with people, enjoying music, and improving himself.
Chenglin Zhou
Assistant of Tech Support
Chenglin Zhou, or preferably Eric Zhou, is a grade 10 student at Point Grey
Secondary. He is the assistant of tech support at ISMART, and is trying his best to learn
skills from the president of tech support. Eric is planning on becoming president of tech
support after he gains enough experience. He has always found computer science an
interesting topic, and is planning on working in this industry in the future. Besides computer
science, he also enjoys reading books and playing video games.

Eric is currently a junior at Century High School in Vancouver, Canada. He is a
member of the basketball team at school and has made outstanding contributions to the
team in competitions. He is also a member of the school's math competition club. In his
spare time, you will find him immersed in music and various sports, enriching himself in his
extracurricular life.

I'm Allan Wang, a Grade 11 student currently attending University Hill
Secondary School. Alongside my dedication to academics, I have a strong passion for
basketball, which has been a significant part of my high school journey. Serving as the team
captain, I've not only honed my skills on the court but also developed invaluable leadership
qualities and teamwork abilities. Additionally, I've been fortunate to be part of the school's
golf team, where I've enjoyed the challenge of mastering a different sport and building
connections with fellow athletes.

A grade 11 student at Sentinel Secondary School, YiYi is honoured to serve as the
event leader of ISMART’s West Vancouver location. As an event leader, she will help
coordinate and manage future ISMART events, specifically ones held at the West Vancouver
location. Last year, she participated in ISMART’s Spring Camp as a teaching assistant and
Mother's Day Cookie Sale Event. In the future, she hopes to participate in even more of
ISMART’s events. Beyond ISMART, YiYi spends her time listening to music and watching
films.

Whenever he’s not freaking out about university applications, you can find him learning a new coding language, passionately bickering in the debate club, or cramming that essay due at midnight.

Inclusivity, diversity, and connectivity is at the cornerstone of every youth community, and Richard Ma has made this his passion. In joining the North America Ismart Multicultural Youth Association, he hopes to promote an awareness for philanthropy among his peers and build a supportive environment for those in need, enabling them to achieve their best. In his free time, Richard enjoys keeping up with the latest scientific and technological trivia. He is currently a grade 12 student in Prince of Wales Secondary School and plans to study biomedical sciences in university.

Jason Song
Jason Song is a grade 10 student attending Mulgrave school, and he is a proud member of IMYA. He loves helping out his community, biking with his friends, and debating. Throughout the years as a member of IMYA, he has been able to coach new immigrant students and teach them the fundamentals of speech. He has also been fortunate enough to participate in the Chinese new year festivals through comedy. Through IMYA, he connected to his heritage. He was fortunate enough to be able to raise donations towards the most vulnerable in hospitals. Each innovative project completed with the IMYA allowed him to feel touched and blessed at the amount of change he is able to create.
